LONGMEADOW, Mass. – The UMF softball team banged out 27 hits and scored 25 runs en route to a softball doubleheader sweep of Bay Path Saturday.

The Beavers posted a 15-2 win in the opener, led by a five-RBI effort from Kate Ross and a four-RBI performance from Breanna Conners. The Beavers went on to recorda 10-0 win in the nightcap. Megan Carman and Liz Bergeron combined to no-hit Bay Path.

UMF is now 4-0 on the season and has outscored its opponents 45-3 this season.

Farmington scored a pair of runs in the first inning of Game 1 on RBI singles from Megan McCrum and Sara Martin, and scored four more in the third to snap a 2-2 tie, highlighted by the first of Conners’ two, two-run doubles.

A two-run single from Ross in the fifth extended the lead to 8-2, and a seven-run outburst in the sixth sealed the win.

In Game 2, UMF scored five times in the first, highlighted by a two-run double from Mary Berry and added two more in the second and third before plating a single run in the fourth to finish the scoring, as the game was called after five innings.
