Burglars hit Hillside Sports Club in Jay and homes in Carthage and Industry in the past few days. In one instance, a homeowner frightened off the crooks.
The cases remain under investigation by Jay police and the Franklin County Sheriff deputies.
Jay police Detective Roderick Small said that there was a forced entry into the Hillside Sports Club on Marcello Street in Jay sometime late Saturday or early Sunday.
More than $1,000 of cash was taken after video game machines and a juke box were broken into, Small said Tuesday.
Evidence was left and police will be sending it to the state crime lab for analysis, he said.
There are suspects and leads in the case, he said.
Franklin County Sheriff deputies are investigating two burglaries reported Monday.
A family member went to clean a house off Route 142 in Carthage and had been there for a while before she noticed some items strewn around the place and went out to get the phone and noticed the side door the place was open, county Cpl. Nate Bean said Tuesday.
Cpl. Steve Charles and Deputy Heidi Gould responded to the scene Monday morning and called in Bean with his tracking dog, Ben. The dog tracked the scent to another camp road, Bean said. Deputies are continuing to work on the case
When Bean came on to his regular shift at 5 p.m. Monday, he was called to respond to another burglary on Clearwater Pond Road in Industry.
A homeowner came home and interrupted the burglary, he said.
The suspects, a male and a female, took off but Bean was able to track the vehicle through the use of the license plate the homeowner reported.
The suspects attempted to steal cash and coins, Bean said, but the male suspect dropped the goods when the burglary was interrupted.
Bean was assisted by Deputy Edward Hastings at the scene.
Bean is continuing the investigation. He has already interviewed one suspect and has plans for more interviews.
