PARIS – Sheriff Lloyd Herrick has announced that Lieutenant Christopher Wainwright was among 250 law enforcement officers who graduated from the FBI National Academy Program at Quantico, Va.

Wainwright is a member of the 224th session of the national academy that consisted of men and women from the 50 states, 21 international countries and four military organizations.

Internationally known for its academic excellence, the National Academy Program, held at the FBI Academy, offers 10 weeks of advanced leadership, management, investigative and fitness training for selected officers who have proven records as professionals in their agencies.

Upon completion of the course, officers return to their agencies to serve in executive-level positions. Wainwright is in charge of the patrol division.

Wainwright was presented his diploma by FBI Director Robert S. Mueller III, keynote speaker at the March 17 graduation ceremony.

Training for the program is provided by the FBI Academy instructional staff, special agents and other staff members holding advanced degrees, many of whom are recognized internationally in their fields of expertise.

As a graduate of the academy Wainwright was able to earn 16 undergraduate credits from the University of Virginia, which accredits many of the courses offered at the academy.

Herrick congratulated Wainwright on his accomplishment, as he is the first deputy from the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office to graduate from the academy and the only police officer from the state selected to attend the 224th session.
