RUMFORD – The Widow and Widowers will meet at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 30, at the United Methodist Church, Linnell Street. There will be a Chinese auction, and dessert, coffee and tea will be served.

Seniors trips

DIXFIELD – Neighborly Senior Citizens have announce there is still space available for the following trips:

Thursday, April 6, Lac Megantic, Canada, Cabana le Sucre, $34 a person, including meal, bus and entertainment.

Thursday, April 13, 20th Anniversary Stars On Ice at Cumberland County Civic Center, $40, including $35 admission ticket; dinner on own at Old Country Buffet.

Sunday, June 4, Indian Head in Lincoln, N.H., Lobster Festival Day party featuring country and western show with Jose Duddy, $50 a person.

Legion supper

RUMFORD – A public supper will be held at 4:30 Thursday, March 30, at American Legion Post 24, Congress Street. The menu will include chicken leg quarters. Cost is $6 a person and there will be live entertainment by the Wanna Bees following the meal. Members and guests are welcome.

Weekend events

NEWRY – Jimmy Buffett fans and mogul skiers will return to Sunday River on Friday, March 31, for the start of the Parrot Head Weekend and 19th annual Bust n’ Burn Mogul Competition. A full schedule of events is available at www.sundayriver.com/parrothead. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Maine.

Spring musical

RUMFORD – The Mountain Valley High School spring musical, “Kilroy Was Here,” will be performed at the Muskie Auditorium at 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday, March 30 and 31, and 3 and 7 p.m. Saturday, April 1. Cost for tickets are $8 for adults, $6 for seniors and $5 for students.

Seed giveaway

RUMFORD CENTER – A public seed giveaway will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 8, at the Rumford Grange Hall.

Dinner-dance

RUMFORD – A benefit dinner and dance for Susie Byard will be held Saturday, April 8, at the Eagles Hall on Oxford Avenue. A chicken pie dinner will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. and the dance will begin at 8. Music will be provided by DT’s Entertainment. There will be a Chinese auction and a 50/50 raffle. Cost for adults is $6 for the dinner and dance and $4 children under 12. For ticket information call 364-7851.

Sign-ups set

PERU – The baseball season sign-ups and tryouts for all Babe Ruth baseball players will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 8; 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, April 17; and 10 a.m. to noon Thursday, April 20, at the Peru Elementary School field.
