President George W. Bush recently held a news conference at which he let it be known that the decision to end the presence of U.S. military in Iraq would not be his. Instead, according to Bush, it will be for “future presidents” to decide.

Could it be he plans to let “future presidents” decide the following:

• Reduce the $9 trillion deficit?

• Suspend the tax cuts for the wealthy?

• End the war on terror?

• Change the prescription drug program to help the elderly, not the drug companies?

• Really help the Katrina survivors instead of old cronies?

• Do something for the country instead of against the country?

• Help our schools?

• Have honest elections?

• Really save Social Security and Medicare, not destroy them?

• Bring these United States back together as a nation again?

I hope so.
