A LEG UP: Meghan Murphy paints Adam Smith in “Meghan’s Body Shop” at Leavitt Area High School in Turner Thursday evening. The school celebrated its 7th annual Arts Gala after weeks of preparation by students and art department faculty. Visitors listened to acoustic music, took in a one-act play, a poetry slam and a “pottery throw down.” All this week, 17 visiting professional artists worked with students as teachers integrated arts into subjects such as English and math class. “I really like body art,” said Murphy. “I couldn’t tattoo him (Smith) at school, so this is the next best thing.”
