FARMINGTON – Norman Wallace Neil Sr., 95, of Wilton, died Wednesday, March 29, at the Franklin Memorial Hospital.

He was born, March 8, 1911, in Weld, a son of John and Nellie (Sargent) Neil. He was educated in Weld schools.

On Dec. 28, 1931, he married, Pauline Rodzen in Strong. His beloved wife died on Sept. 17, 2000.

They made their home in Wilton where he worked as a loom fixer at the Wilton Woolen Mill and later at G.H. Bass in the shipping room.

He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He took great pleasure most recently fishing with his grandson and great-grandsons. He also enjoyed playing cards, mowing his lawn, relaxing on his porch, birdwatching and bird whistling. An avid Boston Red Sox fan, he was proud to be able to watch them win the World Series. He recently was able to travel to Arizona to visit his son and daughter-in-law which meant a great deal to him. He will be dearly missed by his family.

He is survived by his son, Norman Neil Jr. and his wife, Betty, of Green Valley, Ariz.; four daughters, Louise Lake of Wilton, Shirley Lorette of Farmington, Marjorie Neil of Rochester, N.Y. and Sondra Davis and her husband, Craig, of Wilton; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great-granddaughters.

He was predeceased by five brothers, Samuel, Marquis, William, Theodore and Leslie Neil; and two sisters, Elnora Williams and Lettie Tuttle.
