GORHAM – A taste of Brazil will come to the University of Southern Maine April 7 and 8 when Samba New York! presents two workshops and an evening of Brazilian music.

Inspired by the samba schools of Rio de Janeiro, Samba New York! puts on samba shows and workshops throughout the Northeast.

A free percussion workshop will be held 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. April 7 in Room 320 in Corthell Hall. Samba New York! director Philip Galinsky will lead musicians in a workshop on the art of samba drumming.

A free samba dance workshop will be held 10 a.m. to noon April 8, also in Room 320.

Tickets to the April 8 concert are $15. Call the box office at 780-5555. Corthell Concert Hall is near the main entrance to the University on College Avenue.
