DURHAM – In a low, if not the lowest turnout for a municipal election, Road Commissioner Clifton Larrabee Sr. handily defeated challenger Daryl Pratt, 219-152, for a 17th one-year term Friday.

The remaining candidates were elected unopposed: Selectman Michael VanDerWerf, 219; Pauline Paradis for tax collector and treasurer, 251 each; James Beaulieu, one-year term on the School Committee, 228; Linda Pfaffinger, three-year term on the School Committee, 219.

For three three-year seats on the Budget Committee, Carol Minnehan-Lee with 181, Jane Rice with 210 and Donna Church with 16 write-in votes.

Just 261 of the 3,397 registered voters turned out for the election, Town Clerk Shannon Plourde said.

Town meeting on warrant Articles 3 through 83 gets under way 9 a.m. Saturday at the Elementary School gymnasium.
