AUBURN – Franklin “Tommy” D. Burgess, 59, a resident of Bemis Street, Livermore Falls, died Friday, March 31, at Hospice House of Auburn, where he had been a patient for one day.

He was born Sept. 13, 1946 in Lewiston, the son of Joseph and Christine (Burgess) LaPlante. He was a 1965 graduate of Livermore Falls High School.

He worked at New England Furniture and at local shoe shops.

He enjoyed going to lawn sales, collecting models of old cars, watching the World Wrestling Federation, and day trips around the countryside.

He is survived by his mother, Christine, of Livermore Falls; his companion of 43 years, Nellie Hanson of Livermore Falls; two stepsons, Richard and Herbert Hanson, both of Livermore Falls; a stepdaughter, Patricia Buck, of Litchfield; eight step-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Joseph LaPlante Jr. and his wife, Judith, of Jay, and Roger LaPlante of Livermore Falls; four sisters, Judy Spencer and her husband, Dennis, of Turner, Patricia Blais of Wilton, Teri Hoff and her husband, Charles, of Rumford, and Brenda Hatch and her husband, Alan, of Farmington; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his father in 1998.
