Yard sale

OXFORD – A 13-family indoor yard and bake sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 8, at the Oxford Station House Community Center. There will be a variety of household items, toys and clothes. Proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life of Oxford Hills in June 2006.

WOODSTOCK – Franklin Grange 124 will hold Community Citizen Award Night at 7 p.m. Monday, April 17. The grange is on Main Street, Bryant Pond.

WEST PARIS – West Paris Grange 298, 4 Church St., will hold Community Citizens Award Night at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 20.

Benefit supper

PARIS – The First Congregational Church, 17 East Main St., will hold a benefit turkey supper from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Friday, April 7, to benefit Kevin O’Connor, son of church member Judy O’Connor.

Kevin was severely injured in a car crash and spent nearly two months in Maine Medical Center in Portland. He returned home recently but still faces a challenging recovery.

The menu will include roast turkey, mashed potatoes and all the fixings along with dessert and beverage. Ticket donations are $7 for adults and $4 for children under 12. Those who would like to make a donation may send it to First Congregational Church, 17 East Main St., South Paris, ME 04281. For more information call 743-2437.

Softball sign-up

SUMNER – Softball sign-ups for girls ages 7 to 18 will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays, April 8 and 15, at the town office. For more information, call 388-2866.

Screenings

OXFORD – Oxford Elementary School kindergarten screening will be held from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 9, by appointment only. Students must be 5 by Oct. 15. Parents or guardians will need a copy of the immunization records and a birth certificate. Call the school at 539-4456 to find out about registering and making an appointment for screening.

Registration

PARIS – Mildred Fox School will hold kindergarten registration from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 16. Any child who will be 5 by Oct. 15 is eligible to register. Parents or guardians should call the school secretary at 743-7802 to schedule a 15-minute appointment for the registration/screening process.

They will need to bring a copy of their birth certificate, a copy of a recent physical examination and immunization records. Those who have been legally appointed guardian/ custodian of a child being registered should bring the appropriate legal documents. The child will have a vision/hearing test, a speech screening, height/weight measurements and a brief readiness screening. Call 743-7802 to set up an appointment.
