WEST PARIS – Bernice C. Palmer, 94, died Saturday, April 8, at the Ledgeview Ledgeview Living Center in West Paris. She was a resident of the Ridge Road in Peru.
Born in West Peru on Dec. 18, 1911, she was a daughter of Arthur and Dora (Widbur) Childs. She was a 1928 graduate of Dixfield High School.
She worked for Diamond National Match Corp. in West Peru for more than 25 years, until her retirement in 1962.
She was married in Rumford Center on April 4, 1931, to the late James K. Palmer, who died on Aug. 12, 1988.
Survivors include her daughter, Ruby Silver of West Paris; a sister, Phyllis Sylvester and her husband, Henry, of Peru; two grandchildren, Victor Hathaway and Tania Hathaway; and a great-granddaughter, Sophia.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Sherry Worth; a sister, Lillian Martin; and a brother, Norman Childs.
