CHARLESTOWN, N.H. – Mary Evans O’Keefe Gravalos was born to Ruth Evans O’Keefe and Edward Scott O’Keefe on May 5, 1921 in Lynn, Mass.

She graduated from Radcliffe College in 1942 and from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy in 1946.

She worked for the C.I.A. for 30 years.

After her retirement, she wrote a book about the printmaker, Bertha Lum, which was published by Smithsonian on her seventieth birthday. She later co-authored a book about Hungarian verbs because she needed it when she was studying Hungarian.

She died Friday, March 24, in Charlestown, N.H.

She is survived by her daughter Elizabeth; grandchildren, Max and Emily; and by her great-grandson, Jonah; and by numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom appreciated her generosity, love, graciousness, courage and culture.

She was predeceased by her granddaughter, Rosemary.
