LEWISTON – The Holy Family Church Auxiliary will hold an adult spelling bee at 6:30 p.m. Friday, April 28, in the church hall, 607 Sabattus St.
The admission fee is $1, and audience members will be randomly chosen from their admission tickets to spell words and win cash prizes. There will be a game of “Heads or Tails” for door prizes: one for the adults and one for the children.
The price of a necklace to play in the game will be $5. Refreshments will be available and the doors will be open at 5:30 for those wishing to go early and have a bite to eat. Soda, coffee, water and an assortment of foods will be available.
To enter the spelling bee itself, the cost will be $100. The first prize for the top speller will be $1,000, with second and third cash prizes being awarded. There are many spellers already signed up, and some of them will play for their favorite charities.
Those interested in sponsoring someone or being a speller should call Laurie Swart at 782-1867. There are still some openings available, but the number will be limited to 25.
