GREENE – The Greene Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary will hold a spaghetti dinner for one of its most valuable members.

Deputy Fire Chief and Highway Road Foreman Bruce Tufts underwent surgery not too long ago and the stress and cost of the procedure has weighed on the family, Auxiliary member Brenda Theriault told selectmen Monday night.

“He has been a lifelong firefighter we want to help,” Theriault said.

The dinner will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, April 22. Adults are asked to pay $6, children 12 and under, $4.

Town Manager Charlie Noonan said Tufts is slowly recovering and despite his surgery, goes to work when he can.

Selectmen also noted that there are vacancies on a few town boards: the Capitol Improvement and Land Use Ordinance committees as well as one seat on the Planning Board. Anyone interested may see the town clerk during normal business hours.
