FARMINGTON – Rose L. Benner, 87, of Carthage, died Monday, April 10, at the Franklin Memorial Hospital.

She was born, Sept. 21, 1918, in Brooklyn, N.Y., a daughter of, Michael and Catherine (Yanda) Natur. She attended schools in New York and Maryland.

On Feb. 8, 1946, she married, Philip Benner in Baltimore, Md. Shortly after they were married, they moved to Maine and settled in Carthage.

She worked in civil service in Maryland and later in the office at Forster’s Mfg. for many years after moving to Maine.

She enjoyed working on her flower and vegetable gardens around her home and participating in the local bowling league, which she continued to do until very recently.

She is survived by two sons, Philip and his wife, Prudencia, of Carthage and Paul and his significant other, Elaine, of Carthage; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Phil on Aug. 18, 2000; two brothers; and a sister.
