Dear Sun Spots: When the radio station WCOU was on the air in the late 1940s, my father, Ludovic (Vic) Vaillancourt and my uncle, Antonio (Tony) Charest, had a 10- or 15-minute program that aired once a week. I believe that it was sponsored by Swift & Co., a meat distributor. My father would accompany my uncle, who was a great tenor, on the piano.

I am searching for anyone who would have been affiliated with WCOU or remembers these programs. I am also trying to locate any taping that would have been done. I am wondering if whoever bought out WCOU would have any archives of this?

Dear Sun Spots: I read your column every day. Great job! It is very informative. Keep up the good work. I have a few questions:

Can you please get me Dr. Timothy Johnson’s address? He is always on television. I believe he practices at Boston General Hospital.

Can you also please tell me when the balloon festival started putting the logo on the champagne bottles? At first, it was just a plain label, and now they have the balloon festival logo on them.

Can you please tell me whom to contact to get a DNA test done? Is there a toll-free number that someone could call?

Answer: Regarding your first question, you can try contacting Johnson via the church where he is an assisting pastor. Sun Spots had the pleasure of speaking with Pastor Joel Anderle, who says Johnson travels extensively, and it may take some time, possibly a few months, for him to receive your mail. But since he appears to no longer practice medicine, this would appear to be the timeliest method for reaching him. Answer: According to a note posted on www.abc.go.com, the next episode of “8 Simple Rules” has not yet been scheduled. The last episode appears to have aired April 15, 2005.
