RUMFORD – Rumford Lodge of Elks 862 has announced its 2006 scholarship winners.
First place for boys was won by Timothy Fournier, and Cassie Clement won first place for girls. Both are students at Mountain Valley High School.
Second place for boys was won by Matthew Papsadora from Mountain Valley and second place for girls was a tie between Chelsea Patterson from Mountain Valley and Mallory Brown from Telstar High School in Bethel.
First-place winners receive $800 each and second place winners receive $400. On the state level, Mallory Brown won an additional $800.
All seniors who reside within the jurisdiction of SADs 21, 43 and 44 are eligible to apply for the Elks scholarships. The Scholarship Committee members are Lewis Irish, chairman, Mike Aube and Allan Gallant.
