I am a disabled and handicapped person. I live in Lewiston. The city has several sidewalks that are in desperate need of repair. That was been brought to the attention of the honorable mayor more than a year ago. To date, nothing seems to be getting done about the sidewalk situation, yet the city continues to spend foolishly, instead of for the necessities. There are several sidewalks that are, to date, not handicapped-accessible.

The city continues to buy and remove buildings that create tax revenue. The city spent $255,000 last fall to raze a building on Maple Street when they could have used that money to repair the sidewalks and make the sidewalks – that aren’t in compliance with the Americans With Disabilities Act – handicapped-accessible.
