RUMFORD – The RAPPA chorus will hold auditions and begin rehearsals for the Dinner Theatre at Park Place to take place June 17, 18, 23 and 24. Judith Kuhn will direct the plays and the chorus as well as accompany the singers.

The first meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 25, at the Mountain Valley Middle School with play auditions at 6 p.m. and chorus rehearsal from 7 to 8:15 p.m. Scripts for the two one-act plays are available to read at the Rumford Library.

“Scrambled Eggs” has roles for three women and three men. The plot concerns two friends who plan to stay at a secluded cottage to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Their solitude is soon upset by the arrival of a car full of motorists stranded by a snowstorm.

“The Scheme of the Driftless Shifter” is a melodrama with major roles for three men and three women plus at least 10 minor roles, including several walk-on roles. The humor involves the antics of the actors who enter from the wrong door or can’t remember their lines and the sound effects that do not come at the correct time.

The chorus will sing songs from Broadway musicals as well as a Disney medley. New members are welcome. Although there are no auditions, previous choral experience is advantageous, especially for men who must sing harmony.

Anyone who is interested in joining the chorus should contact Kelli at 369-0028 no later than Friday, April 21, to reserve a folder or music. Singers should bring a rewound audio cassette to the first rehearsal in order to have a copy of the music to be performed.
