LEWISTON – A 12-year-old boy hurt in a bicycle crash in Kennedy Park on Thursday was released from the hospital Friday.
Police said the boy was kept overnight for observation after suffering a head wound in the 7 p.m. crash. They declined to provide his name citing the family’s wishes for confidentiality.
Witnesses said the boy was riding through the park with a friend on the back when the front bike tire struck something, causing the bike to flip.
The boy riding the bike was thrown over the handlebars and struck his head on the pavement, police said.
The child riding on the back of the bike was not hurt. Police said the injured boy was unconscious when they first arrived.
He was treated at Central Maine Medical Center.
