Do I want to do anything? No. Do I want to write this article? No. Why? Because I have a severe case of senioritis. For those of you who are unaware of the fast- spreading infection, it causes the complete lack of motivation and concern. It has now affected a majority of the senior class, and is still continuing to reach others. Though the underclassmen may think they are experiencing these symptoms, newsflash: You still have at least a year left!

As summer draws nearer and nearer, seniors are getting further and further away from….. sorry, got sidetracked…. Anyway. Pretty much, we just don’t want to come to school anymore. The weather is getting nicer, and the wish to be free from classes and homework is greater than ever. The lure of the beach, our beds, the pool, sitting around doing nothing, and having absolutely no school worries is overwhelming.

At this point, the infection is causing a slight drop in grades, and a big drop in attitudes. No one cares anymore. For those of us that were worried about being in the top ten, third quarter grades are in, and we are home free. Now, grades for everyone are just not all that important. If an assignment here or there is missed, no big deal. The teachers are probably slightly annoyed by this carelessness, but right now, those sentiments concern most seniors about…. Not at all.

At this point, my hope is that the Class of 2006 can hold it together for long enough to make it through the year without too much trouble, and still get halfway decent grades on our finals. After that, who cares? I’ll tell you once I feel like figuring it out.
