In response to Mr. Seth Carey’s May 2 letter, “Voters want a secret ballot,” while I am no statistician, I nonetheless question the accuracy of Mr. Carey’s suggestion that 95 percent of citizens want a secret ballot and 5 percent don’t. Perhaps because I can’t tell from his wording whether he is speaking of petitioners in Rumford or in Mexico, or both.

In any case, the figures are hardly an excuse for segueing into defamatory comments of both Rumford (I assume) and its inhabitants.
