AUBURN – A stretch of High Street between Academy Street and Minot Avenue will be closed most of today while crews repair gas lines.

The roadway is expected to be closed between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m. as Northern Utilities works on gas valves to increase pressure in the area.

Traffic will be detoured onto Elm Street while the work continues in front of the Village in on High Street. According to Highway Department Supervisor Richard Keene, the work should be completed by the end of the night.

“It’s an all-day job,” Keene said. “Fortunately, the Village Inn is closed on Mondays.”

Motorists who regularly travel High Street should find alternate routes, Keene suggested.
