TURNER – Selectmen believe they have reached agreement with residents on both sides of Harlow Hill Road to allow for improvements.
Projected work includes ditching, moving of stone walls, cutting of trees, building of shoulders, and resurfacing to prevent frequent flooding of the farm road, which runs off Route 4 to route 219.
Families with roadside property met with board members Monday night and no disagreement with Road Committee plans was raised.
Selectman Ralph Caldwell and Town Manager James Catlin said they had discussed the compromise plan with Hamel family attorney Curtis Webber, who indicated the family’s acceptance of the plan.
Webber was not at last night’s meeting, so the board directed Catlin to draft agreements for all parties to sign, agreed to revisit the site with landowners and mark areas to be worked, and have work begin as soon as possible.
Catlin will update the board on progress at the regular June 5 meeting.
Board members conducted their third on-site session in two weeks with a visit to a long, narrow property on Pleasant Pond Road, which leads from the road to the pond. Known as the Hogan property, the wet, wooded land is owned by the town.
Before determining a course of action for the property, selectmen gave it the inspection. Action was tabled until the June 5 meeting.
