I read the “Strangers in the land” article in the May 21 Perspective section and found it interesting, but I feel it missed the point.
My grandparents came from other lands; my father’s parents from Denmark to Canada (legally) and from there to the United States (legally). My mother’s parents came from Canada (one from Quebec, one from Nova Scotia). My father (born in Canada), came to the U.S. as a young boy. All lived productive lives in the U.S.
Today we have many more immigrants coming to the U.S. (legally) and living productive lives. The point is: Let them come legally and lead legal, productive lives.
