LEWISTON – A pair of Auburn men were arrested on Main Street Wednesday night after the car they were riding in was stopped by local police working with state and federal drug agents.

Trez Thompson, 22, and Broderick Adams, 20, both of 94 Second St., were each charged with drug possession after a police dog was used to help search their car.

Police were not releasing information about the arrests and it was unknown what, if anything, was found in the search of the vehicle.

Thompson and Adams were arrested after Maine Drug Enforcement agents were joined at the scene by officials from the federal High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force.

Undercover agents had been following the Pontiac from Auburn when Lewiston police were called to assist with the traffic stop at about 7:20 p.m.

The stop on Main Street was the second dramatic bust in the city in the latter part of the day.

At about 3:45 p.m., police began chasing a vehicle heading outbound on Lisbon Street after receiving a report that the occupants were involved in suspicious activity.

Police stopped the car on outer Lisbon Street near Dyer Road, and ordered at least two men out of the vehicle. Drug agents were called to that scene as well.

Brandon Mayo, 19, of 84 Bear Pond Road, Turner, was arrested at the scene and charged with driving to endanger. Ryan Longley, 21, of 15 High St., Auburn, was charged with assault and drug possession.

Police did not provide details about what led to those arrests or what charges were filed.
