RANGELEY – The Church of the Good Shepherd will host a Christian Performing Arts Camp this summer. Hands-on activities in music, dance and theater will culminate in a fundraising performance at the end of the summer. The camp will meet from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays and will run from June 21 through Aug. 16. It is open to all area youth entering sixth grade through 12th grade.
Through Christian rock, Christian rap, liturgical dance, clowning, drama workshops, improvisations, doo-wop vocals and other offerings, the camp will explore Christian beliefs and what it means to be a Christian in the new millennium.
All activities will be hands-on and to a large extent student-directed, getting kids on their feet and participating on whatever level they are comfortable with. All levels of expertise will be accommodated: for instance, there will be group guitar lessons for beginners as well as an opportunity to write and perform a Christian rock song.
After an introductory workshop in each area, students will choose three activities: one each of music, dance and theater to focus on during the sessions. Everyone will be involved in the final performance as performers and technical support.
Campers will meet in the undercroft at the Church of the Good Shepherd on Main Street. Regular attendance is preferred but not required.
