SABATTUS – Selectmen announced that the town may need to seek legal counsel regarding a sewage problem that keeps the municipal building backed up.
Selectmen Chairman Guy Desjardins said the sewer has been plugged several times and decided that the next time it happened, the town would take a different action.
“It happened again, and this time instead of just clearing it with a snake, we asked to have a camera put in there,” he said. “When we did that, the camera got stuck.”
With some investigating, Selectman Mark Duquette noticed that the contractor for the municipal building was supposed to use 4-inch piping. Three-inch piping was used instead. Duquette said where the two different pipe sizes meet is where the backup is occurring.
This will not be an easy fix, Desjardins said. “The very floor we are standing on will possibly need to be ripped up.”
