GARDINER – Melissa Trott had a strong performance on the mound, giving up only two runs to preserve Gardiner’s 10-2 win over Lewiston in Eastern Class A preliminary softball action Tuesday.

Chelsea Striker and Jess Fish recorded the first runs of the game for the Tigers (10-9), each scoring on a wild pitch in the first and fourth innings, respectively. Gardiner rallied in the sixth inning to score seven runs off several back-to-back singles.

The Blue Devils (8-9) were paced with two singles apiece by Ashley Morgan and Melissa Lacroix.

Georges Valley 9, Jay 3

ROCKLAND – Nicole Poland had two hits, including a double and two RBIs, to lead Georges Valley to a 9-3 victory over Jay in a Western Class C preliminary matchup on Tuesday.

Desiree Smith hit an RBI-triple for Georges Valley (10-5). Vanessa Frisbee earned the win on the mound for the Buccaneers. Kaylie DeMillo had two hits, a double and an RBI for Jay (5-12).

Fryeburg 2, Lisbon 1

FRYEBURG – Hannah Hill went the distance, gave up one run on three hits with 10 strikeouts to carry Fryeburg to a 2-1 victory over Lisbon.

Cerise Humphrey had two hits, including an RBI-triple for Fryeburg (10-7). Siobhan Riordan doubled for the Greyhounds. Emily Moore allowed two runs on six hits on the mound for Lisbon (11-6).
