MINOT – Road Manager Arlan Saunders told selectmen Monday night that he is satisfied that developer Don Fortin adequately addressed problems with his road, Fortin Drive, and the fire pond that serves his subdivision off the end of Jackass Annie Road.

The problem with the collapsed culvert that passes beneath Fortin Drive, draining overflow from the fire retention pond, was solved by inserting a 36-inch diameter pipe into the 48-inch culvert and filling the gaps with cement.

Engineer Steve Roberge, who did the storm water flow studies for Fortin’s subdivision, assured selectmen two weeks ago that the smaller culvert has the capacity to handle a 100-year flood without allowing the fire pond to top the road.

Guardrails have also been installed along the section of Fortin Drive that has side slopes too steep to meet town standards.

Saunders said he issued four driveway permits to Fortin per agreement that they be issued once the road problems were resolved.

Saunders also reported that Quimby Road is ready for paving and that his crew is working on Old Woodman Hill Road with Lower Road, Garfield and Old Garfield roads to follow.

He said the Hebron road crew and truck are assisting in return for work that Minot did on Hebron’s Greenwood Mountain Road.

Town Administrator Rhonda Irish announced that repairs to the town office roof are complete and that Peter Rybeck managed to finish painting the eaves in spite of less than cooperative weather.

Selectmen also accepted the town’s audit report for the year ending Jan. 31, 2006, and noted that the public hearing on storm water management plans for further developments on the town’s 160-acre parcel will be held at 7 p.m. June 19 at the town office just prior to their regular meeting.

The public hearing is part of the process for obtaining a site location permit from the Maine Department of Environmental Protection.
