AUBURN – The Penley Corner Church, located on Riverside Drive, will be open to the public at 2 p.m. Sunday July 9, for its annual all-faiths service.
The Rev. E. Richard Wrentzel, pastor of visitations at the Turner Village Church, will be the guest minister. The Rev. Ralph Bedard of Windham will be the soloist, and Norman Rose will play the melodeon.
Captain John Penley donated the lot for the church and cemetery in 1833. The church is now listed in the National Register of Historical Places. Relatives of the church’s founder often attend from various parts of the country, as well as local community members.
Others taking part in the service will be Maurice Penley and Penley. They will serve as ushers. Elaine Penley Ordway will tend to the guest book. Lorraine Penley and Maureen Penley Poisson will pass out the programs.
Everyone is invited to the service followed by refreshments and fellowship at the William Sylvester home, located across the street at 1128 Riverside Drive.
