Marine activities
AUBURN – The Marine Corps Central Maine Detachment will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 29, at the New Auburn American Legion Post 153, South Main Street. Use Cook Street entrance. Mission barbecue
LEWISTON – Hope Haven Gospel Mission, 209 Lincoln St., will hold a July 4 celebration barbecue from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 4. All in need are welcome. Meals will be delivered to shut-ins as well. Those who would like a meal delivered should call 783-6086.
Senior outing
MONMOUTH – Members of the Golden Age Club will be traveling to the Taste of Maine Restaurant in Woolwich Wednesday, July 12. Any Monmouth area senior citizen who wishes to go should call Wes Johnson at 933-2228 or Marilyn Perry 933-4279 for reservations.
The bus will begin loading at the United Church parking lot at 10:30 a.m.
Vacation school
LEWISTON – Vacation Bible School will take place from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. July 16 to July 21 at the Thomas Memorial Baptist Church, 62 Strawberry Ave. The theme will be Arctic Edge Trek 2006. There will be music, crafts and snacks for children who are 4 years old through the sixth grade. Family night and barbecue will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. on July 21.
Bridge results
LEWISTON – The Lewiston-Auburn Social Bridge Club winners of the quarterly Club Championship at the Multi-Purpose Center on June 26 were: first, Richard Balian and Roger Briggs; second, Anna Cormier and Pete Cummings; third, Marta Clements and Nancy Farmer; fourth, Shirley Banks and Beverly Dolan; fifth, Eleanor and Lindy Wigton.
Games are played every week at 9 a.m., a mini lesson is given, and a partner is guaranteed. Call Rosemarie Goodwin at 783-1734 for more information.
A game will be played on Monday, July 3.
