LANCASTER, N.H. (AP) -The long-time town clerk in Carroll has been convicted of stealing more than $100,000 in town money.
Louise Staples had been the town clerk and tax collector in the northern New Hampshire town for nearly 20 years. She was accused of stealing $118,000 over four years from 2000 to 2004.
Prosecutors said Staples stole from fees, licenses and property taxes.
