LIVERMORE FALLS – All town departments, with the exception of emergency services, will shut down as of July 1, officials here have said.
As of noon Friday, both the town office and the transfer station will be closed until voters approve a budget at a special town scheduled in July.
The public library will close Saturday, July 1. All fines will be forgiven for the time the library is closed, but the book drop will be available for book deposit, according to a memo from Library Director Francena Goodine.
The recreation department, including the summer program for children, will also be on hold until at least July 12.
Police and fire departments along with the emergency dispatch service, will remain open for emergencies only. They can be reached by dialing either 911 or 897-3424.
Shuttered town departments and programs cannot reopen until voters agree on a 2007 budget. A special town meeting to vote on that budget is set for 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 11, at the Livermore Falls High School.
