LEWISTON – Three composite sketches have been posted on the Maine Most Wanted Web site as police search for a trio of men accused of raping a woman last month.

Police said a woman told them that in the early morning hours Saturday, June 10, she was smoking a cigarette on Pine Street in the Bartlett Street-Howard Street area, when three men began harassing her.

The woman later told police the three men grabbed her, pulled her into an alley and sexually assaulted her. Detectives have been investigating the case since it was reported. No arrests have been made.

Composite sketches were prepared based on the woman’s descriptions of the assailants. The sketches have been posted on the state’s most wanted Web site, which has been credited with helping police track down suspects in the past.

A brief check with some neighborhood residents Wednesday night found them unaware of the incident.

According to police, suspect No. 1 was described as a black male, 6-foot-1-inches tall, 225 pounds with shoulder-length, dread-locked hair, crooked teeth, a thin beard and mustache and a deep voice. Suspect No. 2 was described as a black male, 5-foot-8-inches tall, with a shaved head, small mustache and pierced ears. Suspect No. 3 was described as a white male, 5-foot-9-inches tall, 180 pounds, brown eyes, a goatee and short, medium-colored hair.

Anyone with information is asked to call Lewiston police Detective Brian O’Malley at 795-9010, ext. 230.
