AUBURN – The day after the Fourth of July was a memorable one for two golfers playing a round at courses just off Exit 75 of the Maine Turnpike.

Bob Blanchette aced the 160-yard 17th hole at Martindale Country Club. Blanchette used a 6-iron to achieve his hole-in-one while Ron Blanchette, Neil Mayo and Laddie Deemer looked on.

Meanwhile, during the ladies’ morning league at Prospect Hill Golf Course, Claire Veilleux collected her first career hole-in-one. Veilleux used a 7-wood on the par-3 15th. Witnesses were Paula Giguere, Ginny Gagne and Irene Asselin.
