PARIS – Town officials awarded a contract for a new sidewalk on Paris Hill Road and Tremont Street to A & W Paving for $55,755 at the regular selectmen’s meeting Monday night.
The only other bid, by Pratt & Sons, was for $75,398.
Town Manager Sharon Jackson said the town has $53,447 in its sidewalk account and will have to pay the difference from money in the general maintenance accounts, which is part of the highway budget.
Also at the meeting, selectmen approved a donation by the Fire Department’s relief association and the Oxford County Emergency Management Association to the fire station for $2,790.71.
The money will be used to buy and install a ceiling projector, a wireless sound system, a DVD player and laptop.
Fire Chief Brad Frost said the space is used often for training and meetings, and the sound system will help.
