SABATTUS – The town has hired Vision Appraisal Technology to conduct a townwide revaluation project, with data collection beginning this month.

Vision Appraisal will work with the town’s Assessing Department on the 12-month process. There are five major phases to a municipal revaluation: data collection, market analysis, valuation, field review and informal hearings. During these phases over 200 tasks will be implemented in order to complete the revaluation.

During the data collection phase, “listers” will go to each property and physically inspect and measure the interior and exterior of each building. Listers note the buildings’ location, size, age and quality of construction, as well as improvements, topography, utilities, zoning restrictions, if any, and other characteristics both inside and out.

Homeowners will be asked to sign data collection forms to verify that inspections took place. The entire process takes about 15 minutes.

All Vision representatives will carry identification cards and letters from the town and will have their cars listed with both the town office and municipal police.
