AUBURN – Topsham Knights rolled to an 11-2 victory over the White Sox in Men’s Senior (Over 30) Baseball league action over the weekend.
Rich Flaherty pitched seven innings of three-hit ball to gain the win for Topsham, which took an early 2-0 lead on a single by Mike Lamb.
Mike Hlister trimmed the gap to one with an RBI groundout in the second for the Sox. But the Knights bounced back with three more runs in the third on an error and RBI singles by Paul Hansen and Wade Johnson. In the fifth, Topsham answered a White Sox run on a wild pitch with Flaherty’s RBI single.
Flaherty knocked in another run to spark a three-run rally in the sixth. Johnson slapped three hits for Topsham, with Flaherty, Ken Faulkingham, Lamb and Hansen each cracking a pair. Sean Cheetham absorbed the loss for the White Sox (4-2) over four innings of work.
The White Sox will host the Kennebec Indians on Sunday.
