LEWISTON – The Feast of the Body and Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi) was celebrated on June 18 with a procession of the Blessed Sacrament from Holy Family Church on Sabattus Street to the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul where a blessing of the cities was given.

The Rev. Kevin Martin of the Auburn Catholic community presided, assisted by the Rev. Daniel Greenleaf of Holy Cross Parish in Lewiston, the Rev. Robert Parent of Our Lady of the Rosary Parish in Sabattus and the Rev. Albert Roux of Lewiston and St. Francis.

More than 200 persons from the 13 parishes of the greater Lewiston/Auburn area participated. Local Knights of Columbus served as honor guards.

Those unable to take part in the procession participated in a concurrent prayer service led by the Rev. Robert Lariviere, rector at the basilica. A reception followed in the Dominican Conference Room of the basilica.
