LEWISTON – Hope Haven Gospel Mission has received a $500 donation from the TD Banknorth, NA of 10 Great Falls Plaza, Auburn, for the purchase of a bunk bed in the family shelter.

It will help to reduce the turn-away rate, said Pastor Paul McLaughlin, but is only a temporary solution that only the capital campaign can resolve with a new and larger facility.

On July 4, Hope Haven served 160 meals in celebration of the nation’s independence. It was the third year for the annual event, and 32 meals were delivered to needy shut-ins.

Hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken, baked beans, potato salad, macaroni salad, chips and beverages were shared. A number of those attending were retired and disabled veterans.
