PHILLIPS – In its 48th year, Phillips Old Home Days, set to run from Aug. 12 to 20, will have several new additions.

This year’s theme is “Just a Little Bit More Than the Law Will Allow.” The parade will be Friday, Aug. 18, and entrants will be awarded for the most original float, most beautiful, funniest, youth (17 and younger) and judge’s choice. A new category has been added for truck drivers in honor of Greg Curtis of Avon, who passed away last winter. His family donated money to the Old Home Days to be used for a parade award.

Narrrow Gauge ATV Riders Club will host a new event – a poker toy run that will start at North Franklin Park on Aug. 12. The Half-way Down the Stairs Day Care has added a new event for children with an art auction at the library each day of the celebration. Also for children, there will be games, sack races and more on Sunday, Aug. 20, in the park.

The Old Home Days dance is not new, but it has been nearly 15 years since one was hosted at the old gym on Depot Street. Rumford band Palmer and Company will play the dance on Saturday, Aug. 19.
