NEW YORK (AP) – The doctor is in – his car.
Dr. Safwan Sweidan has remodeled his 2000 Chrysler Sebring convertible into a traveling office, replacing the front passenger seat with a table top, a desktop computer, a fax machine and a desk lamp.
Sweidan, an internist who practices in Paterson, N.J., spends about three hours a night in his rolling office in Manhattan. The Kearny, N.J., resident said he parks near Bryant Park so he can use the free Wi-Fi connection to get on the Internet or analyze his patients’ data.
“I do my take-home work much faster in my car,” Sweidan told the New York Post.
The mobile office, which initially was just a platform over the front seat for holding Sweidan’s coffee, also features an Oriental rug, fake flowers and a DVD player, all bolted down so they don’t blow away while the doctor zips around the city with the top down.
