LEWISTON – The Central Maine Comprehensive Cancer Center will present “The Genetic Aspects of Cancer: Considerations for the Young Adult Cancer Survivor” from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 1, in Conference Room I, located in the lower level at the 12 High Street Medical Office Complex adjacent to Central Maine Medical Center.
Developed for individuals between the ages of 17 and 40 who have cancer, or the loved ones of a young adult with cancer, the program will offer an evening of networking, information and conversation.
Clinical geneticist Dr. Rosemarie Smith will review what is known about the genetics of cancer and familial risk. Her presentation will include information about known hereditary cancer syndromes and the availability of genetic testing.
