PORTSMOUTH, N.H. (AP) – A Maine woman faces charges after police say she snatched a purse at a New Hampshire supermarket that contained a diamond ring valued at more than $30,000.
Portsmouth police say they caught up with Tonya York, 35, of Saco, after she allegedly used a credit card from the same purse at two stores. Caught on video, police were able to identify her and make an arrest. The ring was recovered.
Police say when York was arrested, she was out on bail for fraud-related charges in Biddeford, and the subject of a police investigation in York.
