LEWISTON – Irene Douglas, who sustained serious injuries after falling from a motorcycle early Saturday morning, remained in critical condition Monday night at Central Maine Medical Center.

The 36-year-old Lewiston woman was abandoned on Fairview Avenue in Auburn. No details on her injuries were released.

Scott Soulard, 36, of Old Orchard Beach, and John Ferland, 32, of Auburn, were arrested Sunday afternoon and charged with leaving the scene of an accident involving serious bodily injury.

An anonymous female resident of Fairview Avenue watched the two motorcycles speed away from the scene, leaving Douglas in the street.

The resident, whose identity was still unknown Monday night, has been labeled a hero by acting Auburn Police Chief Crowell. Without the good Samaritan’s keen reaction, Douglas may have gone unnoticed in the dark, quiet neighborhood.
