FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) – The Rolling Stones announced Tuesday they will play Gillette Stadium on Sept. 20, more than a year after kicking off their current tour at Fenway Park.

In May, the band postponed the first 15 dates of their European tour so Keith Richards could recover from a head injury suffered April 27 in Fiji.

“Keith’s fine, his head’s better, he’s playing well and enjoying himself so we’re all looking forward to this leg of the tour,” Mick Jagger said in a statement.

They are billing this leg as the “North American encore” of their tour supporting the album “A Bigger Bang.” Stops are scheduled in New York, Chicago, Seattle, Los Angeles, Phoenix, and Las Vegas. Most of the shows will be in stadiums.

The band launched the tour last August with two shows at Fenway Park, the oldest ballpark in the major leagues, a fitting venue for the aging but irrepressible rockers.

Tickets for the show at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough go on sale next Monday.
