AUBURN – Beginning in August, Auburn Public Library will welcome book donations from the public, leading up to L-A the Greatest Used Book Sale on Saturday, Nov. 18.

Books old and new, read, special or not, for children, teens and adults will be collected at the library, 49 Spring St., from 9 a.m. to noon on the first Saturday of the month from Aug. 5 through Nov. 4. Small quantities of donated books will be accepted anytime the library is open.

While some donated books may be added to the library’s collection, most will be available for resale at the Greatest Used Book Sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 18 in the new Androscoggin Community Room. Proceeds will support the Auburn Public Library’s collections, services and programs.

Tom Hutchins of Auburn, who chairs the Friends Book Sale Committee, said, “The Friends are really excited about holding this book sale at the library’s new facility and have plans to build this sale into a major annual event. What we need to put us on the road to success is a lot of donated books.”

Other Friends members working on the book sale are Mary Sylvester, Betsy Hutchins, Connie Bedette, Carol Seward, Diane Gatchell, Susan Tresfsger, Susan Spellman and Sarah Andersen.

For more information about donating books or becoming a Friends book sale volunteer, call the library at 333-6640.
