WOODSTOCK – The Whitman Memorial Library board of trustees held its quarterly meeting on July 20.

During the session, it was reported 11 or 12 children are attending the summer program. Valerie Billings reported that Ciara Nadeau has been volunteering with stories and crafts.

A special event will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, to wrap up the summer program. It is specifically for the story hour children, but will be open to the public as well. Dana Perkins, magician and ventriloquist, will be the guest.

Monthly programs for adults will start on the second Thursday of September and local author, Nancy Draper, will be the first guest.

Paintings by a local artist, Elena Noyes, are on display at the library.

Many books have been donated recently. A book sale is ongoing, and three computers are available for use by the public. Basement space, as well as the library, can be used for a variety of functions. There are no kitchen facilities.

No money is asked of nonprofit groups who want to use the building, but the library does accept donations from anyone offering a program to make money.

Gil Whitman has touched up the paint on the butterfly sculpture.
